Decoys by Dakota Decoy Company
Premium Canada Goose Decoys for Demanding Hunters

All of our decoys are constructed of a blend of high and low density polyethylene. This mix gives the decoy the paint retention found with high density products, with a bit of flexibility to take the abuse found in hunting situations. We use 100% lead free paints, and each decoy is hand painted for an ultra realistic appearance. The bodies are molded in the natural base color of the Canada goose. This allows the decoy to continue to look natural and actually adds character as the decoy ages.

Our “Wind Walker” motion system is second to none! We’ve created a smooth, natural motion that gives the appearance of the natural walking movement of live birds. Limiters are molded into the bodies which work in very high wind conditions, without getting stuck. We’ve incorporated a stretchable leg system to assist with the movement, and also allow the decoy to be moved without the base falling off. Another feature of the system is the ability to turn the decoy on the base and snap lock the base into the decoy body, eliminating any movement and also allowing the decoy and base to be moved as one piece.

We’ve worked hard at creating ultra realistic body positions with multiple head positions to create a unique look in the field. Our flocked heads are the toughest on the market, and are molded out of black polyethylene to help hide wear marks inherent with flocking. We then go to the trouble of painting each eye with a high gloss black paint to help make the decoy look alive!

Deep Side Pockets and Feather Texturing: Anyone who has spent anytime at all watching live geese on the ground, knows that geese become lighter and darker depending on how light hits them. This fundamental aspect of a goose’s natural appearance has evaded plastic decoy companies since their inception, until now. The exaggerated side pockets and deep feather texturing found on each Dakota Decoy allows this optical phenomenon to be duplicated during any condition encountered while hunting. This aspect of Dakota Decoys brings hunters a degree of realism never before imagined, giving them an edge when hunting pressured geese.

Paint: Unlike other decoys that possess the repetitive cookie cutter look, Dakota Decoys are hand painted giving each decoy its own individual look. This unique paint job in conjunction with the exaggerated side pockets, and feather texturing makes a spread come to life unlike stenciled decoys. Since each decoy has an individual look, it more closely mimics live geese giving hunters an added advantage when hunting. The paint is also specially formulated to bond to the plastic instead of forming a cocoon around the decoy, meaning the paint won’t chip or peel off the decoy.

Motion System: Dakota Decoy’s “Wind Walker” molded-in motion system brings realistic motion without the hassle of cones and other gimmicks. By limiting side-to-side and vertical movement, each decoy moves in a smooth natural way even in strong winds, eliminating the teeter tottering motion encountered with motion cones. Any decoy’s motion can be stopped by simply turning the ring base 180 degrees placing the limiter arm into the forward slot. Dakota Decoys also use a bungee cord to keep the base attached to the decoy itself eliminating the hassle and headache of carrying the base and decoy separate. This simple addition to the motion system allows hunters faster set ups, take downs, and most importantly allows the spread to be adjusted quickly and easily if the wind changes during a hunt.

Flocking: The flocking used on all Dakota Decoys is by and far the toughest, most durable flocking on the market, and will last through many seasons of abuse. This durability is achieved by using high quality long fiber strands and quality glue.

Ring Bases: The diameter of the ring bases is oversized making it nearly impossible for the decoys to be blown over, even in the strongest of winds. They are also turned from a single strand of wire then welded closed giving the base extra rigidity and superior strength.

Plastic Blend: Dakota Decoys are made of a blend of high and low density plastics giving each decoy superb detail without making the decoy too rigid. The pliability of each decoy means it won’t crack when subjected to blunt force even on the coldest of days.

Dakota Decoy X-Treme Honker Actives
When we set out to create our X-treme Honker decoy line, we watched content feeding Canada’s, and witnessed so many geese in this position, that it was a natural for us to make this our first carving.

Other companies choose to call this body position a resting goose, which is somewhat true, but they are very content geese that are found not only in the feeding areas, but anywhere geese feel comfortable.

Along with a very relaxed body posture, we’ve added 3 head styles to compliment this natural position. We started with 2 upright heads and then added the searching head, to give your decoy spread a very natural, content look.

Dakota Decoy X-Treme Honker Feeders
Our searching head on the active goose is a good indicator to incoming flocks that it must be chow time! The feeder with its 2 head styles confirms this, and is the finishing touch to bring down wary birds.

We first carved the traditional feeding head, a 90 degree head, and then we decided to add what we call our aggressive head. Canada’s are very protective of their eating space, and get into this position when another member of the flock attempts to share this find! This is another indicator to arriving geese that they must be in a target rich environment, and they want in on this found treasure.

Our Canada feeders are sure to be a hit with many flocks of migrating birds, and is the addition to your spread that will help put more birds on the ground.

Dakota Decoy X-Treme Honker Sentries
Canada geese are very family oriented, and will continue to stay in their family groups throughout the migration. Every family, regardless of size, when contently feeding has at least one goose watching out for danger. Some people think the sentry is a scared goose, but they are really just taking their turn at watching over the rest of the flock as they feed.

We were very careful in carving our flocks watch dog. A true scared Canada stands very upright with its head as high as possible and its neck gets extremely skinny. We put our sentry in an alert position, but were very careful to avoid this scared posture. Our sentry will watch over your flock and signal incoming birds to stay away…. which only makes the approaching birds want what they have found, and will help you put more feet down birds in the decoys.

Dakota Decoy X-Treme Floaters
X-treme Honker Floaters…. Growing up on the Missouri River we’ve always been lured to the water… there’s just something about hunting the water! Here they are, our X-treme Canada Floaters! We’ve once again taken the boring old decoy to new levels. These just flat out look like a goose! The body is molded out of the same tough mix of high and low density polyethylene found in our full bodies, to give you the durability you deserve. We’ve added a twist or two to help bring in those wary late season birds. Carved in detail and air brush painting will put the geese on the water.

We’ve added a little bit of recess in the bottom of the decoy to help hold it down in wind, and eliminate the slapping noise made by some decoys. A heavy weighted keel will assist the decoy in righting itself when thrown. The keel also has a molded in cleat for tying off your line in varying depths of water. We use a screw mount head to assure the heads remain on when throwing out or grabbing to move. The floaters are packaged in 6 packs, and come with flocked heads in 4 positions. These ultra realistic Canada floaters will be the envy of the marsh!
